Re: Subframe Restoration Rough Prices

i bought a replacement bare subframe locally, over the black finish I painted it first with read-lead then some thick green "trawler-grade" top coat, including pouring paint into the cavities and swirling it around to cover, let it dry a week, then pumped & sprayed waxoyl (the pale stuff!) into ever...

Re: e-mini

Ive been looking at this for a while. Most of the setups have been a total electric engine swap out, and pushed through the rear wheels. This one is interesting in the fact that it keeps all the same running gear, but just removes the engine block. Concern would be the bit of extra weight. Offer it...

Re: Rear coil spring conversion

not wishing to spoil this thread, i got a set of 4 blue (soft) from Huddersfield spares - there is a difference between front and rear rates. rear are softer. there is a code number *painted* on the flats of the spring where it mates with the spacer or subframe,

ymmv.

Re: Correct Tyre Size ?

when i bought my SPi it had 165's (falken) on the standard mini alloy rims. roadholding was good but the steering was slightly vague. recently changed to 145's and the steering became wonderfully sharp again - i haven't found any problems with roadholding, but i don't drive it that hard anymore. i w...

If you haven't already done so, this Friday is the closing date for submissions to the RSA so it's time to get the finger out. If you can't figure out how to fill out the 10 questions, post here and someone will be able to help you out. from RSA: Feedback should be provided using the dedicated resp...

Re: My 1980 1275gt

gutted, but glad to see you still have the car - i had one taken (a few years ago it has to be said) and they rolled it on the roof and kicked all the glass out of it when they finished lashing it around the campsite.

Re: Respray or Vinyl Wrap?!

i got front, wings, doors, scuttle and 3/4 panels done, with a little rust chasing done for €500 - wasn't the best ever paint job, (missed the rusty bit on the 3/4 window, a bit of lacquer run on the scuttle) but the car looks pretty good now - the paint match with the bonnet & rear panels is excell...

alternator refurbish

anyone recommend a place to refurbish an alternator? i used to go to a guy in Donnybrook, D4, but he's closed it seems. I have several Lucas units that are either short-circuited (draining battery overnight) or open-circuit (not charging, no ign. light) and a nice non-Lucas (Denso?) unit, any one of...
