Re: MINI MAGIC

Great day today at Mini Magic . Very interesting track with lots of twists and hills. Started off dryish but a constant misty rain and a lot of oil from the minis meant some of the corners were like ice by the end of it, like practicing on a skid plane. Plenty of club members there both on and off t...

MINI MAGIC

This show is in two weeks but isn't mentioned anywhere although we had a stand there last year. Any feed back from members who attended both on track and show only. Anybody booked into for the track this year?

Re: Rolling road and tuning

Do McNamaras still have a rolling road? They had one years ago in Dublin city centre while all there needles and tuning parts were in Fairview. Nobody at the rolling road centre seemed to know how to use it.

Re: Overhaul su hif44 carb

Kits are available from many places as SU carbs were used on many cars. I have rebuilt a carb in the past but in general I find a partial strip and clean is all that is required. Carbs ware over a period of time and there performance deteriorates gradually, your problem seems too sudden . Check for ...

Re: Anyone a link to putting in an mpi engine to older car

I don't have a link but I did set up the MPi engine Simon is running in the clubman estate. Thats on a carb with Megajolt ignition. If your keeping the injection Joe Conboy has done at least two SPi estates so can tell you how to set up the fuel tank and pump. The SRS system has a deperate loom so yo...

Welcome to the forum and I hope you have also joined the club as this year is a good one for shows and runs to celebrate Mini 60th and the clubs 30th birthday.
Feel free to post a picture of the mini as it may be known to others who will give you some history on it.

Re: rewiring a 1990 mini mayfair

Wiring looms are available from all the main UK mini shops, the problem is identifying exactly what you need. If the extra wires are needed to run add ons on your car than you will also need to add these to the new loom. As your car appears to have had an engine swap there may be wiring alterations ...

Re: Another Dodgy Mini

Would love to bring it to the VRT,
Year of first registration 1963
Year of manufacture 1992.
If the V5 carried the correct new chassis number which is possable with a car reshelled in the UK how would the VRT handle it.

Re: Finding tdc

Like I said in my first post ,it depends on which engine type.
If its the original engine in the car tell me the year and model or even post a picture of the engine.

Re: Finding tdc

The belt on a mini is only a fan belt not a timing belt, minis have timing chains.
The fact that it starts means that it is not too far out and should be easy to time in with a timing gun.

Re: Finding tdc

Depending on the type of engine A or A+ the timing marks will either be on the flywheel or pulley wheel. There are two TDC in the cycle of a fore stroke engine and it is important when setting timing that number one cylinder is at TDC after the inlet valve has closed.

Re: Engine doesn't turn over

I think '92 is a pre-engaged starter with the solenoid on the motor. Also your car will have a starter relay between the ignition switch and solenoid.I think its on the inner wing beside the servo. The wire from the ignition switch to relay also has a bullet connector behind the heater where the inh...

Re: Correct knuckle joint....

I am not aware of any suspension differences between 998 and 1275 and I don't think the weight difference in the two engines would warrant any change so I would think if your running 12" it should be the latter. You are assuming it wasn't replaced before, do you know the full history of the car and ...

Re: mini van for sale - need advise

The only thing I can see that looks out of place is the pedals. They are larger and drilled, usually associated with racing but the floor starter wouldn't ,there is also an after market steering wheel. The floor pan appears to have a weld seam along the tunnel but I would expect any mini of that yea...
